Daniel Holzleitner (born 1994, in Schärding/Upper Austria) is a versatile trombonist, composer and educator and currently lives in Vienna/Austria.

 

Being initially socialized in the austrian marching band scene, Daniel showed interest in various styles of music already from an early age on. 
After graduating high school he eventually moved to Graz/Austria to study jazz performance, jazz composition and music pedagogy at the "Kunstunversität Graz" (KUG) with his main teachers being Prof. Ed Neumeister (trombone) and Prof. Ed Partyka (composition). After receiving his bachelor degrees in Graz he moved to Vienna/Austria in 2018 to complete his jazz studies at the "Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität Wien (MuK)" and he also started classical trombone studies there with Prof. Mikael Rudolfsson. He graduated and finished his sudies in the wintersemester of 2022.

Daniel is an active part of the viennese music scene and his versatile and open-minded approach to music resulted in him being involved in various and often divergent fields of work as a trombonist, as a composer and as an educator.

 

Daniel leads his own band, "Comprovisition" and also is a part of the transdisciplinary ensemble "zwischen uns" which combines elements of contemporary music with theatrical performance. "zwischen uns" got awarded with the austrian "Joe Zawinul price".


Besides his own projects, he is a permanent member of Christian Muthspiel's Orjazztra Vienna..

Daniel is also active as a pedagogue. He works at Musikschule Oberes Wiental (Pressbaum,AUT) and also offers private lessons in trombone, improvisation, composition and many other music related fields.
